1. How to open an account?
 
United Nations Publications offers accounts to agents, booksellers, universities, libraries and institutions that intend to purchase publications on a continuing basis.

To establish an account, customers should meet the following requirements:
1. Complete account application form
2. Submission of references from two business and one bank
3. Pre-payment of orders for first year or up to US$ 1000

Following a satisfactory reference and credit check, an account may be opened, and credit terms established.

Deposit Account

Any customer, non-account or account holder, wishing to establish a deposit account should submit their request in writing. A minimum initial deposit of US$500.00 should be maintained. Upon receipt of your deposit, an account number will be assigned.

Credit Account

Customers who have a credit account should submit their orders by mail, fax or e-mail with an authorized purchase order number. The account number must be quoted on all orders, claims and correspondence. This will enable the efficient processing of orders. When remitting payment, invoice numbers must be clearly quoted. All balances must be paid on a timely basis in accordance with credit terms.

All prices are quoted in US dollars, prices are subject to change without notice. Shipping and handling fee will be added to each order. Special shipping instructions can usually be accommodated and these will be charged on an individual basis.
Discounts are offered to wholesalers, retailers and agents. Please contact us for more information at publications@un.org.

Payment

For your convenience, we accept American Express, VISA, MasterCard, Diners, Discover and JCB credit cards, checks and money orders. UNESCO Book Coupons can also be used to purchase books and periodicals of the Untied Nations.

Credit Terms

The credit limit for a particular customer is determined by their purchasing pattern and credit history. Payment in full is due 30 days for customers in the United States of America, 90 days for customers in Canada and 120 days for all other customers from the date of invoice. Accounts with overdue invoices will not receive further shipments.

 
5. What are our returns and claims policies?
 
Returns are permitted for books purchased directly from United Nations Publications under the following conditions:

1. Retailers and wholesalers: Books must be returned no later than one year from date of invoice.

2. All other customers: Books must be returned within 60 days from the date of the invoice.

3. Books must be in resalable condition.

4. For full credit, a returns form must be completed and a copy of the invoice must be enclosed with returns. Returns without invoice will be credited/refunded at 40% of the net invoice value.

5. CD-ROMs and other electronic products can be returned for replacement only. Posters or gift items cannot be returned.

6. All items must be returned at customer's expense. To ensure receipt, all returns must be shipped via traceable means. We will not be responsible for lost shipments.

7. Books returned which are purchased from other sources will be discarded and no credit will be issued.

9. A refund check for any orders paid by check or money order will be issued upon request. Credit or debit card purchases will be refunded to the same card. Returns from account holders will be credited to their account.

10. To request return of damaged/incorrect books, please contact our Customer Service Unit at: order@un.org. Shipping or handling costs associated with returns cannot be reimbursed.


Claims:

All claims for shortages or damaged items and requests for requests for proof of delivery must be made within 30 days. Claims regarding payments and non-receipt of orders must be made within 30 days of receipt of statement. All claims must be submitted by email to order@un.org.
